RICEVIAMO E PUBBLICHIAMO: Japanese Odyssey 18th July 2015
Hello people at Audax Italia,
We are a small firm with headquarter based in Strasbourg in the east of France. Our playground is the bike messengering business and the organization of local bike events.
We wanted to go towards something still in touch with the bike culture, but in which we could combine our two passions for Japan and cycling.
And decided to organized a new bicycle endurance event.
Here we go. The Japanese Odyssey is on track.
It is a journey of 2700 K across Japan.
It is tough. It can be either a nightmare, or something quite fulfilling.
It has the solo and no-assitance features of most bike endurance events.
It will start in Sapporo on saturday 18th July 2015. Riders will have to reach Kagoshima, on Kyushu.
There are 4 mandatory check points, amongst which The Norikura Pass.
But except these check points, each entrant goes its own way. Deciding whether to speed along highways in order to go fast, or to take more mind relaxing and slower one-lane roads.
Success in the event is measured by its completion within the time limit : 14 days.
There is nothing to win, but so much to experience.
The Japanese Odyssey is about performance, about challenging oneself, not about competing against the others.
Thus, we want to make it both a sporting event and a cultural experience.
We think that going across Japan by bike, is a tremendous way of trying to discover and to understand the country and its people.
We don't have much access of the media circuit. That's why, word of mouth is essential to us.
